Statim Cycle Fault 3
If your Statim has a cycle fault 3, I have good news for you. This is one of the most common Statim errors, and it's typically an inexpensive fix. In fact, you may be able to resolve it yourself, without calling a technician.
What cycle fault 3 actually means is that your Statim has a pressure leak from…somewhere. The code doesn't get more specific than that, so we'll have to track down the source of the leak ourselves.
When your cassette seal is worn out, a cycle fault 3 is the first error code you'll get, so that's a good place to start. Telltale signs that your cassette seal is the problem are:
Water pooling beneath the Statim
Steam escaping the front of the Statim during operation
The cassette closes too easily, with no “whoosh” sound.
After checking your cassette seal, take a look next at the biological filter, which is attached to the back of the Statim. If it's dirty, you can and should replace it, but that's not what we're checking for right now! We're checking for signs of moisture inside the filter. If you see any, it means your check valve is leaking. Stop using the Statim immediately and call us for service. Replacing the check valve is fast, easy and inexpensive for a trained technician. Expect to pay about $300.
Now, what if you've gotten this far, and you still haven't found the problem? It's likely there is a piece of debris in your exhaust valve, causing a large pressure leak. Telltale signs this is the case are:
The cycle fault 3 occurs consistently
The cycle fault 3 occurs early in the cycle
There are no visible signs of leakage anywhere else.
Again, this is a very fast, simple repair for an experienced autoclave technician. Expect to pay $200-$300.
There are a few other problems that can cause a cycle fault 3, but they require deeper troubleshooting from an on-site technician. Clients in the Twin Cities area can call Duray Autoclave Service for a fast, professional, affordable service call.
